March 20 Where Are You God??God Afternoon, A friend of mine sent me this quite some time ago "Where Are You God ?" I felt led to post it for todays message. I know where there are times in my walk with the Lord Jesus, I have felt this way. I dont think there are any christians that have not felt this at one time or another in there walk with Jesus. ---Quote----- Where are you God?!? Why, O LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? (NIV) Psalms 10 The majority of this Psalm, I'm afraid, may not be too removed from where we often seem to be in our walk with our Lord God. God, where are you? God, why are you so far off? Why are you hiding yourself from my troubles? Can't you see my needs? Lord, you feel so removed from me; you're so hard to reach. God just really does not seem to be real in that he does not seem to be listening to you. Far off and distant is He. Unfortunately, our relationship with God often seems to worsen before getting better. As our circumstances become worse, He seems to increase in His distance and decrease in His willingness to listen to our troubles. The psalmist describes what his adversary is able to accomplish against him during this time when God appears to be far off. His adversary, one who is full of pride, "hotly" pursues him while exclaiming "there is no God." His adversary seems to be living in prosperity, yet is full of curses, deceit, oppression, mischief, and wickedness. The evil one sits lurking with his eyes stealthily watching as a lion in his lair. He is lurking to catch the afflicted and continues by further exclaiming that "God has forgotten." This psalmist seems to be describing much more than his physical adversary. He is describing what our spiritual enemy, Satan, desires to do with us. As we begin to believe Satan's lies (there is no God or if there is, He is not there for you) especially in our times of trouble, we allow ourselves to become "afflicted ones" and fall as easy prey for him. Where are you with God as you read this? What lies have you allowed in your mind? In your time of trouble, whether it be serious illness, financial crisis, family troubles, or feelings of doubt, confusion, and hopelessness, how has Satan fed you lies? Lies about your God, those around you, and you? Where have you bought in to the lie that He does not belong in certain areas of your life? Consider, right now, what aspect of your life God has not been allowed to enter by you. It is not that He does not want to be there. It is more that you have not allowed Him to be there and instead your adversary, without even your expressed permission, has trespassed into God's territory and set up what appears to be a permanent camp. God, as the psalmist came to realize, has a different plan-He can tear down the camp and strengthen your now distant heart toward Him. The psalmist makes a drastic shift of His view of God and no longer sees Him distant. He begins by praying. Notice that although he feels distant from God and had honest doubts, the psalmist did not quit seeking God in prayer. Have you given up on God? Do you need to start in prayer as the psalmist did? He then goes on to praise Him as "King forever and ever." He grips the truth that He "heard" their desires as He "inclined Thine ear." He will "strengthen their heart." This is the truth that the adversary wanted to keep from them and from you today. The problem is not that God is increasing His distance and decreasing His desire to listen, but in contrast that we increase in our distance from Him and we lose heart as we decrease in moving toward Him. He is always the same and always waiting to incline His ear and strengthen our hearts. Today, do not believe the lies that you may feel that He is removed and not listening, especially as trouble comes, but instead proclaim the truth that the psalmist recognized-He is King forever and ever, He has heard your desire, and He will strengthen your heart. ---unquote--- This scripture has been comming up alot lately in messages. I believe there is somebody that really needs to get it deep into there heart and KNOW that God truly never will leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such thing as you have. For He Himself has said, " I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man can do to me. Our walk with Jesus does not go by feelings but by faith. Only the enemy would love for us to believe that because we dont feel God, then God must not be there for me. Dont believe this lie any longer.God loves you and will ALWAYS be there for you. Love and Lord bless Debbie Comments (6)
